Preparations are underway on the northwest coast, especially at the Ulverstone Showground, for the upcoming Australian Masters Games. Softball will be the sport held at the Showground, with host, Ulverstone Softball Association, in full swing preparing for the major event. An estimated 40 or so teams are being predicted, with participant numbers up around the 500 mark. A committee has been formed, and Association president Mr Waine Chilcott who is head of it, has admitted this is a big thing for not only Tasmania and the northwest coast, but also the Ulverstone Softball Association in general.
“This is going to be a huge event, and we as an Association are looking forward to it. We are currently in the process of just crossing the t’s and dotting the ‘i’s so we are prepared the best we can be to host the biggest softball tournament we have seen here.”
Saturday October 21st to Saturday October 28th 2017 is when it all happens, where the 35+ age group will compete, and entries can be done via the Australian Masters Games website
Four diamonds will erected on the wide spaces and neatly manicured grounds of the Ulverstone Showground, in Flora Street, where there will also be full canteen and bar facilities as well as games every day of the week. Entry is free, so get along and watch some classic softball action.
