Softball Tasmania President, Sheryl Burnie, awarded 2016 City of Launceston Australia Day Sports Award
Sheryl Burnie has been involved in softball in Tasmania for over 30 years. Starting with her commitment to her local team the Saints and the Northern Tasmanian Softball Association. Over the last 10 years that commitment has also included being on the board of Softball Tasmania. These roles have seen her represent Tasmania at national meetings where she is regularly requesting assistance and support for the local associations. She also attends many Council meetings, government and local sports meetings waving the softball flag and ensuring we continue to get support from as many resources as we can.
Her contribution as an administrator, local coach, State Coach and mentor is awe inspiring and just a small portion of the hours of dedication she gives to our sport. Many people like Sheryl go unnoticed as a lot of their hours are spent behind the scenes and it is a true testament to her character that she has been able to continue at this high level of dedication for so many years.
We are all very proud of you Sheryl for your continued support for Softball in Tasmania and hope to see many more years from you.
Well done Sheryl and thank you.
From all in softball
